Carrie Wissler-Thomas was born in Ephrata in the old Mountain Springs Hotel. Wissler-Thomas' father was a physician who spent his free time drawing cartoon characters, and her grandmother was a painter - art was in her blood. Newly married in 1972, Wissler-Thomas and her husband Scott moved to Harrisburg for his job with the Commonwealth. Looking for a venue to exhibit her work, Carrie joined the Art Association and became quickly involved in the local art social circle. Now, executive director of the Art Association of Harrisburg, she has been instrumental in creating a venue for national artists and art education.
