Jill Evans is a Long Island-based freelance writer and editor with a bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University and an MFA with a concentration in writing from Lindenwood University.
Jill has been an editor and writer for several trade publications and her memoir pieces have appeared in several newspapers including Newsday and The East Hampton Star. In addition, she was a nonfiction finalist for the 2016 Christopher Hewitt Award in A&U magazine for her memoir piece about the beginning of the AIDS crisis entitled, “It Started with a Phone Call.”
Jill currently teaches a creative writing class at Suffolk County Community College on Long Island as well as a memoir class at Connetquot Library.
Jill has a passion for telling stories about the common man or woman who often remain unhear and unseen as they deal with the struggles of how to survive life’s challenges. Many of her story ideas come from personal observations or musings on how each of us journeys through a dignified life often facing joy and tragedies unseen by our fellow humans. Travels with Jim is her first novel.-
