Author - Joseph Mazerac
Joseph Mazerac grew up moving to a new town every few years. During those early travels, his only consistent companions were his family and the characters living in his imagination. Throughout childhood, a battle with dyslexia meant he had little love for books and even less interest in becoming an author. What eventually won him over was the abundance of audiobooks at a local library.
For over twenty years, he worked as an unexploded ordnance technician, a.k.a. “a bomb guy.” That career is still meaningful to him, but the creative bug never leaves him alone. Inspired by the voices of countless great storytellers, he set out to write his first novel in 2009. Let’s just say—Wow, writing is hard! But he attended a weekly critique group and stuck with it. After winning a Royal Palm Literary Award, his debut novel Into the Attic of the World was picked up by Milford House Press.
Supporting his endeavors is an incredible wife, four wonderful children, great friends, and a delightful dog. He also gives credit to God for gifting him with an inescapable love of creativity. He likes to say, “Imagination is like having private access to worlds unknown. The impossible becomes reality, and when we spend time in these places, we learn about ourselves, our fears, our inspirations, and our hopes for the future.”
Although he continues to travel extensively, Joseph’s roots are now firmly planted in Jacksonville, Florida.
