Author - Ken Mercurio
Ken lived in the Los Angeles area from age 3 to 58, attending Hawthorne schools. While Senior Class President at Hawthorne High, he wrote a letter to the Beach Boys to see if they would play at the Senior Prom, since HHS was their alma mater, and THEY DID!
He moved to Canyon Country and Simi Valley while working for Carnation Co and Nestlé USA, where he was Director of Nutrition and Regulatory Affairs. His specialty was labeling, such as the Nutrition Facts, ingredient listings, and health claims. His book, Head Over Wheels, takes place in Simi Valley following his retirement in 2006.
During his 14-month Great Loop boating adventure, described in his book's epilogue, he moved to Monroe, Ohio, which is between Cincinnati and Dayton. He now belongs to both those cities' cycling clubs, and still rides thousands of miles a year on the farm roads in Butler and the nearby counties.
