Louise Lenahan Wallace was born in the Sacramento Valley and now lives on the hooky part of Washington state, where she was the board's public relations representative for her local chapter of the American Cancer Society. She was secretary and also edited Footnotes, the state square dance magazine for her local square dance group. Louise worked for attorneys—typing, editing, proofreading, and finalizing legal documents. She received her BA from Western Washington University. She has been published in Grit Magazine, Chicken Soup for the Single's Soul, and Chicken Soup's Joy of Christmas; in addition to The Longing of the Day, she has four other books: Day Star Rising (the sequel to Longing of the Day), Length of Days, Day Unto Day, and Children of the Day.
