John Cressler’s historical novel “Fortune's Lament” tops Milford House Press bestsellers for March

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Sunbury Press has released the bestsellers list for March for its Milford House Press fiction imprint. John Cressler's newly-released Fortune's Lament debuted in the top spot. Cressler took two other spots with his first two books of the Anthems of al-Andalus Series, Emeralds of the Alhambra at 6th place and Shadows in the Shining City at 9th. Jess Steven Hughes took the four spots with his historical novels set in Ancient Rome. The Sign of the Eagle, the first book of the series, took second place.The recently-released The Broken Lance was 8th. The Wolf of Britannia Part I was twelfth, while its partner, Part II, was 13th. Joan West's first book in the Carlisle Crime Cases series, Dying for Vengeance, returned to the rankings at #3. Marie Sontag took four places on the chart with her YA novels: The Alabaster Jar in 5th, The Bronze Dagger in 6th, Rising Hope in 10th, and The Silver Coin in 11th. William Lemanski held 7th place with his murder ystery, Murder in Tuxedo Park. David Parmalee’s historical romance set around the time of the Civil War, The Sea Is a Thief, slid to 14th. Dennis Herrick slipped to fifteenth place with his historical Winter of the Metal People. New releases The Bartered Body by J R Lindermuth and Trolls in the Attic by Joanie Findle debuted at 16th and 20th respectively. Mark Mitten took two places with his western novels, 18th for Sipping Whiskey in a Shallow Grave and 19th for Hard to Quit.

Cressler's novels sold briskly in advance of his new releases. Hughes’ books continue to sell well through bookstore events in the Pacific Northwest. Sontag's books were boosted by school appearances. Mitten’s books have been selling well online. Herrick continues to hold author events to maintain his sales. The others were helped by publisher publicity and/or Kindle sales.
